Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®
A Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® credential for project managers who specialize in project risk management is now available through the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. ProjectPro offers a 2-day exam preparation workshop in Gauteng (or other venues if there is sufficient demand). This workshop will be of value to not only practitioners who wish to become certified, but also those wishing to learn more about project risk management.
The volatile business environment, intense competition and pressures to complete projects on accelerated schedules are some of the reasons why qualified risk management professionals are needed on project management teams. The PMI recognizes the importance and special qualifications needed to be a project risk management professional and the globally recognised PMI-RMP credential will substantiate the applicant’s knowledge, skills and experience in this area.
To qualify for the PMI-RMP examination (which may be taken at Prometric Testing Centres in South Africa), applicants must have:
a high school certificate and at least 4,500 hours of experience in project risk management within the last five consecutive years plus 40 contact hours of formal education in project risk management
OR
a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent, and at least 3,000 hours of experience in project risk management within the last five consecutive years, plus 30 contact hours of formal education in project risk management.
The PMI Risk Management Professional Credential is the fifth professional credential offered by PMI. The other four are:
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®)
- Project Management Professional (PMP®)
- Program Management Professional (PgMP)® and
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®.
